Kinlist is a website created and operated by researchers and physicians at the University of California San Francisco. It is intended to provide a service to relatives who have had a loved one pass from sudden cardiac death, to promote awareness of sudden cardiac death, to provide information to help relatives assess their medical risk, and to collect information to better predict and understand the causes of sudden cardiac death.
Kinlist provides information about medical conditions that may increase risk for serious heart problems, including sudden cardiac death in adults. We hope that the information obtained on this site will help you to be better able to participate with your health care providers in making informed decisions about your medical care. This information is not professional medical advice to you and it is not a substitute for appropriate professional medical treatment or diagnosis. Always seek the advice of your physician or other qualified health provider with any questions you may have regarding symptoms, medical conditions, and/or concerning family history. The website also helps family members organize tasks required to manage affairs after a loved one’s sudden death such as requesting important documents, notifying government and financial agencies, closing bank, email and social media accounts, and filing insurance claims. The Site contains functionality (including surveys, message boards…etc.) that allows users to upload content to the website (collectively "Public Areas"). You agree that you will not upload or transmit any communications or content of any type to the Public Areas that infringe or violate any rights of any party. By submitting communications or content to the Public Areas, you represent and warrant that such submission is and shall be non-confidential for all purposes.
Kinlist has several tools that allow you to record and store information. You are responsible for taking all reasonable steps to ensure that no unauthorized person shall have access to your Kinlist passwords or accounts. It is your sole responsibility to (1) control the dissemination and use of sign-in name, screen name and passwords; (2) authorize, monitor, and control access to and use of your Kinlist account and password; (3) promptly inform UCSF if you believe your account or password has been compromised or if there is any other reason you need to deactivate a password.
